The trailer begins with protagonist Ethan Winters exploring a mansion on the Baker family plantation. Unfortunately for Ethan, he soon crosses paths with the evil Jack Baker, who swings at Ethan with a shovel while chasing him through the house. Instead of trying to engage Jack in a fight, Ethan does his best to avoid him, which seems to be the primary way players will survive enemy encounters in the final game....
The classic Resident Evil games inspired many imitators on PS1 and PS2, with even Capcom’s own franchises shaped by the initial games’ success. Onimusha was a melee-focused take on Resident Evil’s set camera angles and tank controls. Devil May Cry was famously a prototype for Resident Evil 4, and some shades of that show in its mansion setting and powerful guns. However, Capcom made one other franchise almost identical to Resident Evil, just with a different kind of enemy: Dino Crisis started as Resident Evil with dinosaurs instead of zombies, but RE diverged from Dino Crisis more quickly than most fans realize....
2021 is arguably a big year for Resident Evil. Not only has the franchise reached a big anniversary milestone, but it has also released an eighth title in the series through Resident Evil Village. What’s more, to start the anniversary festivities, Capcom expanded its horizons, creating an animated series called Resident Evil Infinite Darkness, that tickled the fancy of Resident Evil 4 fans, giving them a glimpse of how the series is connected to the fourth title....
What’s notable about Resident Evil Village is that it features the return of a variety of fan-favorite features from previous Resident Evil titles. In addition to the return of the typewriter, Village also brings back the classic Mercenaries mode that first appeared in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Despite some gameplay footage leaking early, there’s no telling what more homages Capcom made to previous titles, though when it comes to saving via typewriter, it’s definitely less stress-inducing....

YouTuber Slippy Slides found the Easter egg while exploring Resident Evil 4 with an unlocked camera. It can be seen in Chapter 5-4, very close to the end of the game, hidden in some unreachable ruins in the distance. The Easter egg appears to be a 2D texture of a Japanese man imitating a zombie, dressed in a green jacket and blue jeans, leading some to speculate that one of Resident Evil 4’s developers decided to hide an image of himself in the game during development....
Generally considered by many to be one of the greatest Resident Evil games of all time, the fourth entry in Capcom’s flagship survival franchise took things in a different direction after the previous three installments laid the groundwork not only for the series, but for the genre overall. One of the first portions of Resident Evil 7 that Takeuchi has a penchant for is the dinner scene involving the protagonist Ethan being forced to eat with the game’s supernatural Baker family. Interestingly enough, according to the RE7 executive producer, the final outcome of the meal with the Baker clan could have been completely different, as Jack and Marguerite had originally been a more loving couple during one of the script’s earliest drafts....
While it is mostly unrelated to the events of previous games in the series, Resident Evil 7’s ending has serious implications for the franchise’s lore, and sets up the sequel in a big way. Anyone that would like to better understand what exactly happened at the end of Resident Evil 7 or anyone that is simply looking for some interesting theories about the game’s finale should read on, but others should be weary of major spoilers....
