As it turns out, Resident Evil 5 will be available within the next month, as it launches for PS4 and Xbox One on June 28th. This version of Resident Evil 5 sports a higher frame rate than was found in the game’s original release, along with 1080p visuals. Furthermore, it will include a new game mode called Mercenaries Unlimited, which will be a combination of The Mercenaries and The Mercenaries Reunion modes.
The remaster of Resident Evil 5 also boasts all the DLC released for the original game. As some may recall, Resident Evil 5’s DLC includes new story chapters that show what happened to Jill Valentine prior to RE5’s events, as well as a previously PC-exclusive new game mode called No Mercy.
The Resident Evil 5 re-release marks the first time that console fans will have a chance to check out the No Mercy mode. That, combined with the other DLC, could make the Resident Evil 5 remaster worth the price of admission, even for those that have already beaten the game on previous generation consoles. While it’s true that Capcom’s remasters tend to sell well – and Resident Evil 5 not bringing with it the same amount of improvements as the recent remasters of the GameCube RE games – it’s hard to say if including all the DLC will be enough.
Perhaps fans will take the plunge with the Resident Evil 5 remaster, if nothing else, just to have access to most of the RE story on one console. After Resident Evil 5 drops on PS4 and Xbox One at the end of June, the only games missing from that equation would be Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code: Veronica. And with Resident Evil 2 getting a remake, it wouldn’t be surprising if all of those games ended up on new-gen consoles in some capacity as well.
Resident Evil 5 will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One beginning June 28, 2016. The game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
