According to AestheticGamer, Resident Evil is once again redesigning the look of series protagonist Chris Redfield. While discussing the rumored Resident Evil 8 concept with werewolves, AestheticGamer mentioned that Chris has been redesigned and that his new look will appear in a game that releases before the Resident Evil werewolf game.

This has led to speculation that new version of Chris may appear in the Resident Evil 3 remake. Alternatively, Capcom has invited Resident Evil Ambassadors to test a new game, so maybe the new Chris will appear in that game instead. A new Resident Evil game that’s not RE8 is rumored to be releasing in 2021, so perhaps it’s all connected.
Whatever the case may be, this far from the first time that Capcom has given Chris Redfield a new look. From the original Resident Evil to Code: Veronica, his appearance changed dramatically. Then from Code: Veronica to Resident Evil 5, his looks changed yet again, going from a normal-sized human to a massive, muscular man capable of punching boulders. The newest version of Chris, as seen in Resident Evil 7 and its DLC, is back to a more realistic design, though he still looks quite different from his original look.
Considering how many times Capcom has changed Chris Redfield’s appearance over the years, it’s not surprising that it is apparently doing so again. However, fans should wait for an official reveal before they get too excited or concerned. A lot can happen during game development, and it’s possible that Chris Redfield’s redesigned look will be scrapped, if it even exists at all. We’ll just have to wait for more information on future Resident Evil game projects to know for sure.
