Sean Chiplock is standout talent who has done many video game and anime roles. Some of his most well-known ones include Revali from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Subaru Natsuki from Re: Zero, Yuuki Mishima from Persona 5, and even Spider-Man in Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers game. In regard to Chiplock’s work in The Last of Us 2, his voice can be heard whenever Ellie is fighting the Seraphites faction, which is related to the story that he shared on social media.

On Twitter, Chiplock was asked by a fan on Twitter about one of his biggest achievements in the industry. The fan had posited if it was landing the role as Revali in Breath of the Wild, or being in an anime was one of them. He responded to the tweet with the story about how he ended up vomiting on the microphone unintentionally, which ended up being recorded.

Chiplock provided further context as to how this happened, where he was recording various battle sound effects for the Seraphite enemies in The Last of Us 2. One of the instructions given for him was to act out where an enemy had his throat slit and is bleeding out, choking on its own blood. In his attempt to do so, he ended up triggering his gag reflex to a violent degree, where he ended up vomiting his lunch on top of the microphone.

Chiplock noted that he threw up chicken noodle soup onto the microphone, where the noodles were also still intact. The accident making it into the final release of The Last of Us 2 is not only hilarious, but also quite resourceful, as it was a realistic sound that fit the tone and brutality of the game. As Chiplock noted, the recording crew was in hysterics that it not only happened, but it was also usable.
